Senior Auditor for Sports Firm in New York City

Responsibilities include: 

  • The Senior Auditor will work on planning and conducting complex internal audits, under the direction of audit leadership/management and in compliance with audit standards / related statues.
  • Active involvement in activities such as the preparation of detailed programs for audits, the review of complex financial, operational, compliance and risk systems, processes and procedures to determine efficiency, effectiveness and alignment with internal policies, procedures, regulations and industry standards.
  • Support the audit teams in defining scope of audits, identifying key risk areas, and reviewing relevant controls across the organization in support of the annual risk-based audit plan.
  • Preparing for an audit by researching and organizing all pertinent information, e.g. prior audits, procedure manuals, etc., to plan and prepare for the audit;
  • Developing an audit plan and preparing an audit planning memo that outlines the current situation, identifies areas of potential risk, and describes the steps to complete the audit;
  • Completing the audit by examining, testing, verifying and evaluating operational areas as required;

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA or passed at least two of the four parts is a must.  CIA or Chartered Accountant designation a plus

Our client, a well-known Nonprofit located in New York City seeks a Senior Accountant who will be focused on the Endowments and Investments of the firm. This role is reporting into the Controller and will have a path to becoming the Assistant Controller. The candidate will be responsible day-to-day accounting functions, ideally be technologically savvy be a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker. Responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the endowments and investments as it pertains to ensuring the proper accounting of the firm’s Permanently and Temporarily Restricted net asset balances
  • Work on Revenue Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Expense, Accounts Payable, Investments, Payroll, and General Accounting.
  • Work closely with the Controller and CFO on the annual preparation off the audits and 990 form filings
  • Help review all necessary work papers to accurately account for the firm’s investments; review internal allocation model used to account for the firm’s endowment.
  • Undertake special projects as requested by the Controller

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of accounting experience, nonprofit is preferred
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, CPA a plus

  • Great Plains experience a plus but not a must

Our client, a global financial services company, seeks an Accounts Payable Coordinator in Downtown, New York City.

The candidate would have experience with processing expense reports and supplier invoices within Concur sub ledgers; including settling, clearing and reconciling all accounts payable for the firm’s operations.

This position will fit within the existing accounts payable department and must adhere to internal controls established with regards to the the firm’s General Ledger and Expense processing procedures. The candidate will have to comply with the accounting process in order to ensure the accuracy and quality of financial information contained in the financial statements.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Book journal entries for recording of accounts payable. Entries might be booked from various sources: payment requests, web-based procurement systems, invoices, etc.
  • Process employee expense reports, ensure reimbursement requests are properly filled out, include all support and receipts, are signed off and approved.
  • Ensure that each booking is supported by appropriate work papers, and is recorded in accordance with established policies.
  • Prepare SAP upload files and book accounting entries into the General Ledger
  • Prepare daily, monthly and quarterly reconciliations detained in the accounting procedures manual. Reconcile the accounting system to the supporting documents, and to the procurement tool if needed. Investigate outstanding items and reconciling items if needed.
  • Provide necessary schedules and information for the preparation of IFRS and Statutory financial statements and for reporting to Management. Support the accounting manager for ad-hoc reporting.
  • Utilize the full functionality of the accounting system, and automate entries

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of accounts payable experience
  • Financial services industry experience a plus
