Tax Accountant for High End Business Management Firm – Staff and Senior

Our client, a very high regarded business management firm, is seeking two Tax Accountants to join their team.  They are looking for a Tax Senior and a Tax Manager.  The firm focuses on business and family estates, tax planning and serving ultra-wealthy individuals, families and their advisers.

This is an opportunity for someone who is interested in working with High-Net Worth Individuals. The firm also does invest in the professional development of their employees through active participation in training sessions and networking events.

Responsibilities of the roles will include:

  • Provide tax compliance and advisory services to partnerships, corporations, S-corporations, and individuals for a variety of high net worth individuals and businesses
  • Prepare moderate to complex corporate returns, flow through entities, multi-state and individual tax returns as well as fiduciary, exempt organizations and gift tax returns
  • Assume tax-planning responsibilities for federal and individual clients, participate in complex tax research projects for clients, and research a wide range of tax issues related to business transactions for a variety of entities and their affiliates
  • Research and consult on various tax matters, respond to IRS and other tax authority inquiries when requested, make recommendations to the client for consideration
  • Proactively build relationships and communicate effectively with tax and business management team members and clients to provide superior client service

Qualifications of the roles:

For Tax Senior:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting; CPA or on track to receive it; other degrees a plus
  • 3 years of experience in public accounting or a
  • Strong attention to detail and great communication skills

For Tax Supervisor: 

  • Bachelors in Accounting and CPA license
  • 4+ years in public accounting experience with up to 2 years in tax return review
  • Experience reviewing and supervising staff a plus
  • Commitment to providing the highest ethical standards and confidentiality

Grant Accountant with experience with Budgets

Our client is a prominent nonprofit in the Midtown, NYC area, and they are seeking a Grant Accountant for their accounting department.

Job Duties will include: 

  • Manages grant claims in compliance with funding source budgets and requirements.
  • Working with various city funding sources such as DFTA and HRA, and state funding sources such as NYSOFA.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements by tracking the terms and conditions of grants and contracts and monitoring grant periods and spending trends. Work with program teams to secure any award modifications on a timely basis.
  • Assist with the agency financial reporting and budgeting process.
  • Review vouchers for funding contracts
  • Analyze and distribute program  financial reports
  • Additional ad hoc responsibilties


  • 4+ Years of grant accounting experience at a nonprofit
  • Experience with Budgets and contracts and working with funders
  • Experience with accounting systems such as Intacct, MIP or related software is a plus

Responsibilities of the Accounting Manager / Controller include:

  • The Accounting Manager / Controller will verify, allocate, and post details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts to general ledger
  • Summarize details in separate ledgers and transfer data to general ledger.
  • Reconcile and balance accounts.
  • Pull information from Point of Sales system Micros, and create management reports via Excel.
  • Compile reports to show statistics such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to operation of business.
  • Oversee the Payroll Specialist who calculates employee wages from records and prepare checks for payment of wages.
  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports
  • Complete records to or though trial balance.

Qualifications of the Accounting Manager / Controller:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/ Finance preferred
  • 5+ of relevant experience
  • MUST have Accounting experience in Restaurant industry
  • Compeat or another similar ERP accounting system experience a plus

Payroll Manager
Compensation: Starting at $85k+ DOE

Responsibilities will include:

  • Payroll Manager will be supervising a team of payroll coordinators – analyzing, preparing and inputting payroll data
  • Preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly and year end reports related to gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions for management
  • Inputting journal entries, account reconciliations into the general ledger as it pertains to payroll
  • Work with the HR team on benefits regarding onboarding such as 401k, health, deductions

Payroll Director
Compensation: Starting at $95k+ DOE

  • Payroll Director will be in charge of the Payroll Team, will be working with Payroll Manager on KPI’s,
  • Oversee the production of an accurate and timely payroll, including multi-state over 45 different locations
  • Provide strategic recommendations on short-term and long-term solutions
  • Work on compliance related issues as it pertains to payroll tax, external laws and regulatory guidance
  • Work with the HR Team on various benefits and make sure that the Payroll team is working alongside effectively with them
  • Work with the Executive team on any improvements, efficiencies and optimize use of technology

Minimum Requirements for both positions:

  • 5+ years of relevant payroll experience, Multi-state payroll experience at a high volume
  • ADP, ADP Enterprise, ADP TimeSaver or other related payroll systems is required
  • Oracle or other general ledger systems experience required, Strong Excel
  • Past supervisory experience
  • Union/Non Union experience is a plus
