Hot Job: Accounting Manager for Real Estate Development Firm in New York City

Our client, a Real Estate Development Firm, seeks an Accounting Manager to join their growing team. The firm has provided strategic real estate development and asset management services to international investors for over 60 years.  They are committed to building environmentally friendly, energy efficient, sustainable communities such as corporate campuses, regional hospitals, retail, civic, residential properties including high density rentals to single family homes.

The successful candidate will report to the Vice President of Finance and supervise the accounting staff in New York.  Performing the day to day accounting activities of our entities including retail centers, undeveloped land and future development projects, financial and job cost accounting as well as cash management forecasting.  In addition, this position will be involved in financial projections, tax planning including tax laws and other month-end general ledger reconciliations.


  • Review timely monthly, quarterly and annual G/L activity including, but not limited to A/R, A/P, Job Cost accounting and Fixed Asset Accounting for specific asset management entities
  • Review legal documents for Real Estate transaction including retail agreements and purchase and sale documents
  • Prepare and review month-end, quarterly and year-end closing paperless workpapers
  • Review Quarterly Property Management reports for Owners
  • Review Quarterly Cash reporting for Owners
  • Review of Real Estate tax payments including reporting for all entities and reporting to Owners
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
  • Prepare Financial Projections for specific asset management entities


  • 5-8 years of public and private accounting experience , real estate experience, REIT accounting and knowledge of tax laws
  • CPA a plus
  • Knowledge of Yardi Systems / MRI a plus
  • Ability to leverage technology to automate processes
  • Must be a self-starter and team player, ambitious, eager to learn and use their strong communication skills to work with internal team members
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects
