Our client is a retail wholesaler who is looking for an Accounting Assistant/ Jr. Staff Accountant to join their department. This is an immediate hire to start ASAP and they are located in Soho (Downtown) New York. They would like for this person to ideally be a self-starter with an interest in growing their experience under a seasoned Controller.
Responsibilities may include:
- Perform accounts payable, processing, batching, matching and coding of invoices, payments, accruals and prepaid journal entries, general ledger coding, and data entry
- Correspond with vendors regarding purchase orders, three way matching, chargebacks, returns, short shipments and resolved any discrepancies
- Prepare and process employee expense reports, month end account analysis
- General Ledger experience
- Experience helping with Month End Close is a plus but not a must.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years experience
- Sage software experience a plus
- Excel experience on an intermediate level will be considered
